The aim of the project is to develop tailor-made fertilizer products from digestates by rolling agglomeration. New products should be specially developed to enter alternative markets in the non-agricultural sector. The joint project consists of three subprojects: technology (technological product development), product (Assessment of plant cultivation), market (market potential analysis). As part of the subproject Technology, the subsequent rolling agglomeration is to be applied following conventional treatment processes for digestates (liquid-solid separation or drying). This process technology is particularly suitable for the admixture of aggregates. For example, a wide variety of materials can be combined with the digestate during product manufacture, and the product properties can be tailored to the most diverse applications as well as to the different customer and product requirements. In combination with selected secondary and residual materials, three test samples are to be produced for exemplary use as tomato, turf and flowering plant fertilizers. These prototypes should be comparatively examined and evaluated with regard to their physical (storage, and transport), chemical, plant-building and soil-improving properties with already existing products on the market.
