In recent years, the significance of hemp-based foodstuff increased immensely and the product segment continues to develop in a promising way from an economic point of view. Nevertheless, long supply chains exist between the agricultural primary production and the manufacturing industry. Moreover, hemp cultivation still offers great potential in optimization of sustainability. Thus, the project’s objective is to develop the regional value chain and to achieve a more efficient utilization of the hemp plant as a whole. Two main aspects of innovation receive attention within the frame of the venture. Firstly, strategies for cultivation and harvest of the whole plant are investigated. Associated with that, the development of innovative machines for harvest and initial treatment are promoted. Secondly, hemp-based final products related to a holistic usage of the plant like e.g. nutritional, agronomic or constructional goods are advanced to market readiness. Finally, findings are evaluated by cost-benefit analyses.
