The small-scale knowledge of soil properties is an important basis for crop production and determines the economy and ecology of agricultural practices to a large extent. Existing soil sampling procedures and sample laboratory analyses take several weeks to complete. These do not provide options for immediate verification of the measurement results at the field or allow dynamic adaptation of the soil sampling plan and require sample logistics. The project idea of the mobile field lab with soil sampling and a laboratory for soil analysis enables the direct measurement of nutrients in the field ('soil to data') by using innovative technologies and a high level of automation. After finishing soil sampling and analysis the soil remains at the field. This idea of the mobile field lab was converted into a concept and realized at the research project 'soil2data'. The competences of the research partners (Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, LUFA Nord-West) and the 4 industrial partners (SMEs) have been specifically integrated to develop a flexible soil sampling laboratory (mobile field lab). The contents of 'soil2data' and the structure of the consortium are already geared towards exploitation. Based on the feasibility demonstrated in the 'soil2data' project, this application 'prototypes4soil2data' will apply for funding to transfer the research results to the market. The joint development of a prototype of the overall system on a commercial carrier platform is an important aspect. In the research project, the exploitation of the soil sampling plan has already been started, and a market evaluation has also been started. Based on these initial findings, it is intended to market the components of the overall system as a product. In addition to the soil sampling planning (app2field), this concerns the module with the processing technology of the soil to liquid (soil2liquid) and the sensor module for the analysis of the liquid with the ISFET sensor system (liquid2data).
