A number of existing forecasting and decision support systems (EHS), which are important for arable farming practice, need to be adapted and validated to the dynamic development of host-pathogen interactions in order to ensure their continued practicability. For the model adaptation it is necessary to collect epidemiological data for further parameters, comparative data on epidemiology in the scope of intensive field assessment as well as the environmental conditions relevant for the development of the harmful organisms in different regions in Germany. For the models ERYBET and RAMUBET (sugar beet) as well as SKLEROPRO (rape), the development of further epidemiological data and the revision of the existing models over a period of three years is necessary in order to improve the previous model quality. This also requires an exact modelling of ontogenesis, which will be further developed for rape and sugar beet (led by ZEPP) as well as for the existing ontogenesis model SIMONTO in cereals. Further models will require an optimisation of existing model algorithms in order to improve the practical suitability of the models. In the long term, this will reduce the use of pesticides to the necessary minimum by forecasting infestations and optimise application dates.
