Seven scientific documentaries were produced in the project and published on the JKI
YouTube channel of the Julius Kühn-Institut (JKI):
1. Blatttrandkäfer in die Schranken weisen (September 2020)
2. Der Distelfalter – Bedeutung im Sojaanbau (Oktober 2020)
3. Erbsenblatlaus (Acyrthosiphon pisum HARRIS, 1776) in die Schranken weisen
(Dezember 2021)
4. Schwarze Bohnenlaus (Aphis fabae SCOPOLI, 1763) in die Schranken weisen
(Dezember 2021)
5. Erbsenkäfer in die Schranken weisen (Februar 2021)
6. Ackerbohnenkäfer (Bruchus rufimanus BOHEMAN, 1833) in die Schranken weisen
(Februar 2021)
7. Nützlinge im Ackerbau fördern (Februar 2021)
The 3- to 4-minute films illustrate characteristics and behaviour of selected pests and provide practical recommendations for preventive and direct regulatory measures in protein crop production. The film "Promoting beneficial insects in arable farming" (7.) addresses farmers directly with recommendations for action to promote beneficial insects. It shows the connections between agricultural practice and the impact on beneficial insects, but also on biodiversity in general. The importance of annual and perennial flower strips, edge biotopes, diverse crop rotation with intercropping and the reduction of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides are combined with interesting pictures of our most important beneficial insects in arable farming.

The results from current projects are directly included. Videos of different beneficial insects (ladybird species, lacewings, hoverflies and wild bees) on protein plants will be shown and their importance for protein plant production will be illustrated. The film clips will be uploaded one after the other immediately after completion to the YouTube channel of the Julius Kühn Institute (JKI) and integrated into the online identification tool for agriculturally relevant harmful organisms (plant doctor) on the BLE internet portal www.oekolandbau.de. The realisation of the project will make a sustainable contribution to the transfer of knowledge from research to practice.
