Project code: BfR-PRS-08-1322-352
Contract period: 01.04.2008 - 31.12.2008
Purpose of research: Applied research

Usually, the detection and determination of the amount of a compound (including also sensi-tising compounds) which is released by gas emission from a consumer product is a challenging task. In most cases the total content of the sensitising compound in the product is determined and, in combination with numerical models it is possible to calculate theoretical emissions. The measurement of the content of VOC in consumer products usually requires two steps. In the first step the volatile compound is absorbed on a sample absorbent. In the second step the compound is eluted from the sample absorbent and analyzed on a GC-MS. This procedure is very time consuming, especially during sample preparation. The development of a special emission chamber suited to collect volatile compounds can help to detect its amounts in a fast, efficient and reliable manner.
