Production processes

Project code: JKI-ÖPV-08-1433
Contract period: 01.01.2019 - 01.12.2022
Purpose of research: Experimental development

In the frame of this project non-targeted and targeted analytical methods on basis of gas and liquid chromatography-coupled mass spectrometry will be developed and applied to identify and quantify resistance and quality-determining metabolites in wild and cultured carrot populations. The resulting data sets will be used to map metabolic traits in genome-wide association studies or QTL analyses or correlated with other phenotypic traits. The project comprises the analysis of C17-polyacetylenes and other bitter compounds such as laserines in periderm, phloem and xylem tissue of roots (in cooperation with JKI institute ZG, projects ZG-4183 and ZG-4187) as well as the analysis of volatile compounds such as terpenoids from carrot leaves and roots and as products from enzyme assays with terpene synthases (in cooperation with JKI insitutute ZG, projects ZG-4183 and ZG-4187).
