Collaborative action for updating the documenting about berry genetic resources in Europe

Purpose of research: Inventory & Assessment
The joint action to update the documentation on the genetic resources of berries in Europe has the following objectives: (1) The implementation of the project will record the genetic resources in berries in the participating countries. The data will be qualitatively improved in a uniform manner (including taxonomic data, FAO / biodiversity pass descriptors) and made available to the respective National Focal Points for EURISCO for inclusion. (2) In addition to the recording of existing genetic resources, the methods of conservation will also be investigated. On this basis, species-specific technical guidelines for gene bank management (manuals) will be developed. (3) On the other hand, based on the results it will be possible to select cultivars / accessions in order to propose them as AEGIS accessions by further characterization/evaluation.
