The overall goal of the project is to improve cultivation of alfalfa in Germany. It is highly valued as a legume fodder, but there is a need of breeding research. Based on innovative breeding strategies including (I) Determination of genetic diversity using effective genomics tools (II) Development of smart breeding tools (III) Determination of yield and yield quality (IV) Improvement of resistance. In this sub-project resistance will be investigated using cold atmospheric plasma as a seed treatment, as well as plasma treated water as a plant strengthening agent/ and or plant protection agent.
