The "CowEnergy" project was funded by the "Program for the Promotion of Innovation of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture". In accordance with the requirements and objectives of the program, the project was carried out as an application-oriented research and development project with close reference to practical agriculture. Among the special scientific-technical results are above all the detailed modeling of the production processes of an agricultural enterprise. Furthermore, the electrification of the production processes leads to an increase in efficiency. A complete integration of the EMS into the breadth of farms could contribute to a more sustainable agriculture by using synergy effects and strengthen the decentralized energy supply of rural areas. In this context, the progress of practical applications is much more advanced than the legal framework. The research results could be important for the further political design of the energy transition in rural areas with regard to the grid integration of the users of the EMS. The research results were continuously published and discussed in the specialized press and at scientific conferences. In addition, the project was reported on by the public broadcaster and thus made accessible to the general public.
