PRIMA PHACIE:Pest risk assessment for the European Community plant health: A comparative approach with case studies
Project
Project code: JKI-AG-08-1129
Contract period: 01.12.2009
- 31.12.2012
Purpose of research: Inventory & Assessment
Aims of the project are to i. review existing quantitative and semi-quantitative approaches for risk assessment of organisms harmful to plant and plant products. The review should include methods used for assessing the probabilities of entry, establishment and spread, the potential consequences of pest introduction and spread, the overall risk characterisation and the uncertainty analysis. Methods to evaluate the effectiveness of management options in reducing the risk of introduction and/or spread should also be reviewed. ii. to compare the appropriate methodologies by means of risk assessment case-studies with pilot organisms for the EU territory. iii. to identify methodologies most suitable for conducting risk assessment and for evaluating the effectiveness of management options for organisms potentially harmful to plants and plant products for the European Community by the EFSA Panel on Plant Health in order to give best support for the European decision making.
