Genome-based identification of resistance genes for breeding purposes in order to reduce the use of plant protection products in viticulture
Project
Project code: JKI-ZR-08-1105
Contract period: 01.08.2010
- 31.07.2012
Purpose of research: Experimental development
Viticulture requires very high plant protection against fungal diseases since almost all of our cultivated cultivars are susceptible. New fungus resistant culitvars proved to be a very good possibility to reduce plant protection efforts. However, the development of fungus resistant cultivars is very time consuming. It can be accelerated by molecular markers as diagnostic tools. In cooperation between TU Kaiserslautern and SeqIT genes conferring resistance against downy mildew will be identifying by a genome sequence based approach.
