Monitoring of vectors of flavescence dorée, xylella fastidiosa and regulated non-quarantine pests in fruit and wine growing - Innovative data collection and management (VectoScreen)
Project
Project code: 2818711X19
Contract period: 15.04.2021
- 14.06.2024
Budget: 768,348 Euro
Purpose of research: Inventory & Assessment
Keywords: crop protection, plant health, viticulture (winery), vine, plant diseases (virusus, bacteria, fungi, phytoplasma), pome, fruit production, quarantine pathogens
Quarantine pests (QP) such as Flavescence dorée and Xylella fastidiosa pose a serious threat to fruit and wine crops. Regulated non-quarantine pests (RNQP) can affect the phytosanitary quality of the plant material, which is essential for permanent crops. Therefore, monitoring measures are necessary to detect infestations of regulated harmful organisms or their vectors in time. Monitoring measures with regard to organisms relevant to viticulture and fruit growing are labor-intensive and costly and are often carried out independently of various institutions. A lack of overview of available data makes it difficult to identify problematic developments and to coordinate countermeasures. The project therefore aims to develop a new effective and sensitive monitoring strategy, coupled with innovative diagnostics, based on the analysis of unsorted mass traps of plant-sucking insects. An internet platform for the management and analysis of the data thus obtained, but also collected elsewhere, will be developed and made available for the management, analysis and communication of monitoring data.
