Collaborative project: Application of native pupal parasitoids to control spotted wing drosophila under practical conditions - subproject A (ParaDrosu)
Project
Project code: 2818805A19
Contract period: 15.04.2021
- 14.04.2024
Budget: 430,529 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: animal pathogens, biological plant protection, sustainability, berry fruit, fruit production, horticulture
The invasive spotted wing drosophila, Drosophila suzukii, has become a main pest in Germany and Europe, in particular in stone fruit and protected berry fruit production. So far, effective biological methods for regulation of this pest do not exist. On the basis of native pupal parasitoids, an innovative strategy for sustainable and biological regulation as an alternative to chemical control options will be developed. Thus, the major aim of the proposed project is to provide a marketable product based on specific antagonists for regulation of spotted wing drosophila in protected berry cultivation.
