Production processes

Project code: JKI-ÖPV-08-1256
Contract period: 01.02.2006 - 31.01.2008
Purpose of research: Basic research

Support of breeding methodical processes that serve the reduction of the mycotoxin content in wheat and other cereals in the event of an attack of ear fusarioses. In closed cooperation with other institutions (FAL, BBA) belonging to the ministry of agriculture and consumer protection (BMELV) new efficient HPLC/MS and IR rapid methods for the detection of relevant mycotoxins in grains, comparison with immunological methods (enzyme immunoassays, EIAs) for the determination of mycotoxin contents (competitive EIAs) and quantity of mycelium (non-competitive EIAs) will be developed. The spectroscopic methods will be applied in the near infrared range (NIR) as well as in the mid infrared range (MIR). It is assumed that these rapid methods will be fruitfully applied in the context of breeding research, individual aspects of cultivation and quality control. The methods shall be evaluated with regard to the comparability of their results and their use for a screening in plant breeding.
