Production processes

Project code: AZ 27436 - 35/0
Contract period: 01.04.2009 - 31.03.2012
Budget: 161,777 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research

This subproject deals with the following aspects: 1. Identification of adequate input materials for HTC-biochar production. These investigations focus on municipal and industrial organic wastes with regard to amount, availability, and suitability for HTC processing. 2. Characterization of HTC-biochar incl. development of a material parameter set. Material parameters are defined as relevant properties of HTC-biochar before it interacts with dead and living soil constituents. Analyses will be made for: inorganic and organic pollutants, nutrient and water holding capacity, leaching properties, aerobic and anaerobic decomposability. 3. Optimizing HTC production process control. For selected input materials control of HTC-biochar production process needs to be optimized with regard to space-time yield taking into account its use on agricultural land (HTC-biochar properties as defined under 2).
