Selection of different resistance sources to smut and genetical analyses
Project
Project code: JKI-ZL-08-3158
Contract period: 01.01.2004
- 01.12.2010
Purpose of research: Applied research
Ustilago fungi are of economic importance in organic farming of oat, and the most effective way of control is to use disease-resistant cultivars. The project's goal is to investigate a variety of potential resistance sources. Promising resources shall be used as cross parents to combine different resistance genes and agronomic productivity. For the resistance sources discovered in project 02OE030 the virulence-gene pattern of Ustilago isolates as well as the linkage relationships between resistance genes of the host shall be investigated. To this end, different single-spore lines of Ustilago avenae and several segregating oat populations will be developed and and genetically analysed.
