Project code: vTI-AK-08-48
Contract period: 01.11.2010 - 31.10.2013
Purpose of research: Applied research

A significant component of the water balance in wetlands is evapotranspiration (ET). The soil-plant-atmosphere continuum is directly coupled so that water losses caused by ET are directly transferred to the soil water conditions. Because of small distance to surface the groundwater level is a significant factor for greenhouse gas emissions (CH4, CO2 und N2O) on wetlands. The aim of the project is to observe the interaction between decreasing of groundwater level caused by ET and the emission of greenhouse gases. For this purpose detailed in situ process studies are realised combined with a method discussion for estimation ET on wetlands.
