Environment and ressource management

Project code: DFG-GRK 1070
Contract period: 01.01.2004 - 01.01.2013
Purpose of research: Basic research

Within the current phase of IRTG different modeling approaches will be proved and evaluate for simulation purposes in our subproject group 3.2. The overall aim for the use of these techniques is to identify appropriate tool(s) to regionalize our crop specific, environmental and agro-economical knowledge. This data is derived and was transferred to the project-own meta-database from various plot and field surveys. This meta-database will be continuously broadened by this subproject group. Each project member will be informed on data extensions relayed on certain research topics. Modeling approaches favored so far are Cellular automata and the DSSAT crop models extension AEGIS/WIN are used to regionalize site specific information of winter wheat and maize in the North China Plain (NCP). On the basis of the spatial explicit IRTG geographic database AEIS (Agro-Environmental Information System) on climate, soils, crops, agricultural management and sociological data these two different modeling approaches are used to simulate the status quo. For the evaluation of reliable future scenarios, simulations with both models will be performed. The AEIS was initially established on 2 study sites on 2 different research scales. Previous results depicts that there are prospects for sustainable agricultural management as well as high production levels.
