Risk potential determination of Salmonella Paratyphi B dT+ strains for animals and humans
Project
Project code: BfR-BIOS-08-1322-310
Contract period: 01.04.2008
- 31.12.2008
Purpose of research: Applied research
In 1995 a new Salmonella Paratyphi B d-tartrate positive clonal line raises in Germany spreading successfully in poultry. During the baseline study of the prevalence of Salmonella in broilers this serovar has been isolated on position 2. In addition, meanwhile, this clonal group has been established in several European countries as dominant seorvar in chickens and poultry. However, it can be also isolated sporadically from humans, pigs, cattle and fish. This project shall analyse the clonality and its risk potential in respect to the genetic content of pathogenicity and resistant determinants of Salmonella Paratyphi B dT+ isolated from various European countries and sources. This contributes to the risk characterisation of this clone and its impact for humans.
