Project code: BfR-BIOS-08-1322-319
Contract period: 01.04.2008 - 31.12.2008
Purpose of research: Applied research

Recently, serological tests are used for the certification of pigs from fattening farms with a negligible risk for Trichinella. These tests are based on various ELISA systems which are performed as screening tests for the monitoring of farms and show a high diagnostic sensitivity. However, false-positive reactions may occur in animals what requires an appropriate confirmatory test. For this purpose, a Trichinella Western blot with a high specificity should be developed and validated.
