Project code: BfR-LMS-08-1322-453
Contract period: 01.04.2010 - 31.12.2011
Purpose of research: Applied research

Isolated isoflavones are currently components of dietary supplements, marketed to womennear or after menopause, to treat postmenopausal symptoms. However, the epidemiologicaldata to the effect of isoflavone intake on breast cancer is contradictory. According to the stemcell theory of carcinogenesis, breast stem cells are the roots of breast cancer, and are thusthe ideal target for the proposed research. The current project shall analyze the effect of soyisoflavones on the differentiation of human mammary epithelial progenitor cells.
