Feeding of contaminated feed with tansy ragwort (Senecio jacobae) to small ruminants to determine the carry over rate of pyrrolizidine alkaloids in milk from small ruminants and to evaluate and validate a test method for the detection of PA´s in naturally contaminated samples
Project
Project code: BfR-SiN-08-1322-439
Contract period: 01.04.2010
- 31.12.2010
Purpose of research: Applied research
The changing in the agriculture from intensive to extensive using of fields cause in an in-crease of unpleasant plants, especially plants, who include Pyrrolizidine alkaloids.Normally the plants are avoided from animals but they can not sort them out in hey or silage and the Pyrrolizidine alkaloids do not loose their poisoning potential. Carry over from Pyrrolizidine alkaloids is a problem in the human nutrition, too because of consume from food of animal origin, who contains Pyrrolizidine alkaloids, can cause in ahepatic veno occlusiv disease. The results of the trial are expected to determinate the carry over rate of PA´s into milk and to evaluate and validate a test method for the detection of PA´s in naturally contaminated samples.
