Evaluation of the genotoxic potenital of selected synthetically synthesized nanomaterials through application of alternative methods
Project
Project code: BfR-TOX-08-1322-459
Contract period: 01.04.2010
- 31.12.2010
Purpose of research: Applied research
For regulatory purposes current genotoxicity tests are not sufficiently developed. Methods to be used should be accommodated to the testing of nanomaterials and subsequently being harmonized. With selected nanomaterials originating from the Joint Research Council materials repository, well characterized materials shall be investigated with respect to their genotoxic hazard potential. Three assays shall be implemented, adapted and performed during the next two years of research focussing on titanium dioxide, silicium dioxide and some carbon nanotubes.
