Establishing of a wine data bank for analytical parameters for wines from Third Countries (WINE DB)
Project
Project code: BfR-LMS-02-1342-390
Contract period: 01.04.2002
- 31.12.2005
Purpose of research: Inventory & Assessment
The aim of the project is the extension of the sampling and measuring procedures such as stabile isotopes to candidate countries in East Europe as laid down in Reg. EEC No. 2729/2000 from December 2000, 14th and to receive and evaluate authentic sample from there. In addition to isotopic data all samples will be analysed for other parameters to check their importance for the proof of authenticity with particular interest in determining the geographical origin. At the same time the analytical data will be analysed using commercial samples and the results will be compared to authentic data. All data will undergo statistical evaluation to determine the most important analytical parameters for the classification and to compare their impact on authentic and commercial data bases. The results of this study would influence further improvements for the EU wine data bank in terms of better interpretation rules. In this regard also the correlation to climatic data, which have shown to have an impact on isotopic parameters. All measures will enhance the harmonisation of sampling, measuring and interpretation of analytical data and will set up future procedures to fulfil the EU regulations in candidate countries.
