Purpose of research: Applied research

Energy and resource efficiency are in the focus of actual discussion. The topics for this research project comprise the efficient use of energy and raw materials for production, the sensible further use of the residual materials as well as the reduction and energetic usage of waste material, waste water and emissions. For this purpose the optimization of the technological processes with respect to minimum use of energy and materials with the lowest amount of waste is necessary making use of efficient production components and intelligent process control. A special project aim is the development of a simulation based and practically applicable energy and resource optimization tool for industrial production sites. For this purpose the DMK-production site in Zeven is investigated and specific optimization proposals are generated and realized. Based on these exemplary results a systematic general strategy for the comprehensive optimization of production sites will be formulated. Within the project the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hannover cooperates with the industry partners Deutsches Milchkontor GmbH and GEA TDS GmbH. The project plan comprises five project phases: (1) project initialization, (2) energy and raw material screening, (3) technical and economical optimization, (4) systematization and transfer to industry, (5) evaluation. The University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hannover leads the scientific and economic investigations. DMK provides the production site in Zeven as base for the energy and resource optimization project. GEA TDS provides new components for process optimization and testing facilities.
