Purpose of research: Applied research
The availability of appropriate reference substances for the calibration of the measurement system is a basic problem of the analytical determination of Alternaria toxins. Currently the Alternaria toxins Alternariol, Alternariolmonomethylether, Tentoxin and Tenuazonic acid are available on the market. Further Alternaria toxins, which are not commercially available but which occur naturally in food and feedstuff are necessary as referenz substances for the quantification and consequently for the assessment of human health exposure. This includes Altertoxin I, II, III, Stemphyltoxin III, Altenuene as well as Isoaltenuene and Altenuisol. In 2012 Altenuene, which was obtained by total synthesis as part of a cooperation, could be purchased.
