Project code: BfR-CHS-08-1322-288
Contract period: 01.02.2007 - 31.12.2007
Purpose of research: Basic research

Tissue-specific adverse effects of chemicals can by explained by activation (metabolism) of the substances within the target tissue. Extrahepatic cytochrome P450 enzymes (CYP) play a very important role in chemicals’ activation. CYP2F1 and CYP2S1 are enzymes which play an important role in xenobiotic metabolism in the lung and the skin, respectively. The BfR has developed polyclonal antibodies specifically targeted against human CYP2F1 and CYP2S1 in order to determine these enzymes in human tissues. The project is aimed at the determination of the selectivity and the specificity of the developed antibodies.
