Purpose of research: Applied research
The aim of the project is to optimize the irrigation in field grown vegetable crops. In former times irrigation was based on the farmer's life experience. The loss of Nitrate through drain water should be reduced. Generally the yield and the crop quality should be improved by optimizing the irrigation management. For this reason new calculation models and sensor technology will be tested under field conditions and after the project, this new methods should spread into other regions of Bavaria.
