Project code: BfR-PRS-02-1322-238
Contract period: 01.01.2006 - 31.12.2006
Purpose of research: Basic research

Dyes and other aid materials in the textile industry are neither notified nor certified. Also azo dyes were used for coloring textiles. The available toxicological data for these substances is incomplete. Some azo dyes are known as carcinogenic and allergenic. Especially from textiles, which were not colored according to the state of the art substances can migrate and come in contact with the skin. Colored textiles shall be investigated for migration of toxicologically relevant components. First investigations on migration were performed with textile material, which was well-defined colored with the azo dye DO 3. Some of these migrates were positive in the Ames test on mutagenicity. Further specifically colored and characterised textile materials shall be investigated on migration and mutagenic potential in subsequent projects.First investigations on migration were performed with textile material, which was well-defined colored with the azo dye DO 3.
