Project code: 2814703211
Contract period: 01.08.2013 - 31.10.2017
Budget: 108,030 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research

The project covered the investigation of the plant protection potential of an electrochemically activated product, particularly aiming at the reduction of copper fungicides in organic farming. In lab experiments, both in vitro and on various crop plants, aqua.protect showed inhibitory effects on a broad spectrum of plant pathogens, e.g. oomycetes, powdery mildew fungi, rust fungi and leaf spot diseases. By microscopy, the effects were attributed to a growth inhibition and the removal of early infection structures from the plant surface. Toxic effects on plants or beneficial organisms were not observed when aqua.protect was applied at recommended doses. Field experiments on potato, apple and grapevine indicated, that aqua.protect might not substitute but reduce other plant protection products, at least when applied in due time. The latter shall be facilitated by a specific prognosis model system that has been developed in the course of the project.
