The virome of crop plants important to Germany and New Zealand
Project
Project code: JKI-EP-08-2217
Contract period: 01.10.2013
- 30.09.2014
Purpose of research: Applied research
This project aims to:
(1)undertake a virus (non-targeted) survey of pea crops and other legumes in Germany to identify the genetic variability of nanoviruses and potentially other novel viruses
(2)screen pea germplasm for resistance to nanoviruses
(3)undertake a virus survey of potato and tamarillo crops in New Zealand and measure the genetic variability of PVA (in tamarillo and potato) and PVY-N (in potato only) using next-generation sequencing (NGS)
(4)test German potato germplasm for the resistance to New Zealand strains of PVY-N
(5)identify pea germplasm resistant to RCVMV in both countries.
