Project code: JKI-EP-08-2105
Contract period: 01.07.2007 - 30.06.2010
Purpose of research: Applied research

Aim of the project is the development of detection methods for bacterial diseases on corn salad [Valerianella locusta (L.) Laterr.]. For this, different methods have to be proved and checked. Molecular methods for a better classification and characterization of isolated bacteria from plant parts and soil samples as well as serological tests appropriate for routine testing in a large scale are to be developed. The immunological methods should be mainly based on monoclonal antibodies (MAbs). In combination with selected polyclonal antisera the MAbs will be used for the characterization of bacteria species of the genus Acidovorax. The immunological tests should also be applied for the development of resistance evaluation methods to select more resistant corn salad genotypes. In addition, the molecular techniques have to be optimized for the detection of Acidovorax species in contaminated seeds.
