Food and consumer protection

Project code: JKI-BI-08-1197
Contract period: 01.01.2011 - 31.12.2016
Purpose of research: Applied research

Fungi of the genus Fusarium are of concern due to their ability to produce toxic metabolites. In cereals the infection pressure is particularly high in rotations with a large proportion of maize. On the maize seed fusaria may be located on the seed surface or in the inner tissues. In this project a survey on the infection of maize kernels with fusaria will be made, and the efficacy of selected non-chemical seed treatment agents and methods will be assessed.
