Project code: BfR-BIOS-08-1322-580
Contract period: 01.03.2014 - 31.12.2016
Purpose of research: Applied research

The aim of the research project is the development of an internal sample process control (ISPC) for the quantitative detection of viable Campylobacter by real-time PCR. In contrast to the currently used external sample process control (SPC, a suspension of dead C. jejuni cells) the ISPC will enable its direct application within the sample of interest. This will detect variations of the DNA extraction (DNA losses) as well as sample specific adsorption of the intercalation dyes, i. e. matrix effects that lead to variation of the rest signal of dead cells. In addition, handling of the quantification process will be improved by this ISPC, so that the amount of parallel samples for control can be reduced (SPC versus ISPC).
