Project code: BfR-SiN-08-1322-587
Contract period: 01.03.2014 - 31.12.2014
Purpose of research: Applied research

Wild boars are particularly suitable indicators for a large number of persistent organic pollutants in the environment. Environmental background levels of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) und perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) can be identified by their accumulation in wild boar liver. Therefore, analyses of PFOA and PFOS in wild boar liver can be used to indicate to what extent PFOA and PFOS enters the food chain and whether precautionary practices must be taken for consumer protection (e.g. monitoring programs).
