Project code: BfR-SiP-08-1322-658
Contract period: 01.01.2016 - 31.12.2016
Purpose of research: Basic research

The extent and pace of the oral absorption (bioavailability) influences the temporal progress of tissue concentration of xenobiotics and thus their toxicological properties. While in the pharmaceutical authorization this aspect is considered via bioequivalence testing, the pesticide and biocide regulations requires no separate data but the estimation of the extent of the oral absorption of the active substance. The aim of this project is the experimental evaluation of an in vitro method, which is successfully used in the pharmaceutical research, to investigate the influence of co-formulants on the bioavailability of active substances using the example of glyphosate. For that purpose, A Caco-2-epithelium is incubated with several concentrations of glyphosate alone or glyphosate with different adjuvants. Subsequently, the concentration of glyphosate in the basolateral compartment is measured
