Influence of migrating substances on hepatic signalling

Project

Project code: BfR-CPS-08-1322-655
Contract period: 01.01.2016 - 31.12.2019
Purpose of research: Basic research

Food contact materials can release substances, which can migrate into food and modify biochemical reactions of tissues and cells upon ingestion. As a consequence, biochemical and physiological processes can change. Hepatic signaling cascades are often affected, due to the first-pass effect. Well known substances that migrate are bisphenol A and its derivatives, oleamides and phthalates. The effects of migrating substances on pro-inflammatory pathways and reaction will be studied using a co-culture model with special emphasis on hepatic hedgehog signaling.
