Saving resources in soilless fruit vegetables cultivation in the greenhouse with the greatest residues reduction.

Project

Project code: A/16/01
Contract period: 01.01.2016 - 31.12.2018
Budget: 231,600 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research

The use of chemical pesticides is seen in social discussions critically. Thus the horticultural practice is responding increasingly to the integration of biological and biotechnical measures against diseases and pests control. Vaccination of substrates with microbiological additives leads to a controlled revival of the substrate. In the process, microorganisms in the rhizosphere positively influence the nutrient recycling and its transport. Furthermore, microorganisms play a vital role in the health, immunity and resistance of crops. The project goal is to use less plant protection methods through healthier plants. This will be achieved among others by controlled revitalization of organic substrate (antiphytopathogenes potential). Thereafter, a review of psychopathological criteria will be studied to give concrete effect of microorganisms on both plant health and nutrition. In practice, there is a desire for mineral substrates to be replaced by organic and renewable substrates, for example coconut, wood fiber or champost (champignon substrate). So far, there isn´t an environmental objective evaluation and lacks uniform standards. Sustainability and environmental compatibility can be assessed, through CO2 footprint (Product Carbon Footprint). The aim among others is an economic evaluation of the tested variants of the culture process of fruit vegetables in soilless cultivation techniques.
