Purpose of research: Applied research
Many phytoplasmas associated to disease of various crops depend on complex epidemiological systems that include wild altternative reservoir plants. In the case of stolbur phytoplasmas the vector populations are specifically associated with differnt wild plant host species. The infection pressure is influence by the prevalent epidemiological system. The biology of plant host adapted vectors is comparatively investigated with the objective to gain information for a more specific prevention and management of infection pressure.
