German Compendium for phytosanitary inspections of plants and plant products

Purpose of research: Basic research
Creation and maintenance of a manual on phytosanitary inspection in Germany. The manual describes in detail any inspection procedure on import, export and domestic inspection and phytosanitary measures. Furthermore, it contains various data sheets of pests and diseases. the manual aims at assuring high-quality and efficient work by the plant health services based on uniform procedures. Furthermore, a guideline on the export of plants and plant products to the Russian Federation that have to be inspected was developed as a results of the work on the manual. In addition to the printed version, the Compendium is implemented as a highly complex online offer on the basis of a content management system. The manual is permanently updated and adapted to changing legislation and work procedures.
The result is a comprehensive compilation of any check and inspection procedures, overviews of phytosanitary measures and data sheets of relevant pests and diseases. This collection serves as a uniform basis of phytosanitary inspections carried out by the plant health services in Germany. The user-friendly online offer includes in addition a searchable database of all requirements and of advice on import, domestic marketing and harmful organisms. The tool offers a forum for quick information exchange on experience with exports into other countries.
