Stacking of ecosystem services: mechanisms and interactions for optimal crop protection, pollination enhancement, and productivity (Ecostack)
Project
Project code: JKI-SF-08-1252
Contract period: 01.10.2018
- 30.09.2023
Purpose of research: Inventory & Assessment
Keywords: integrating plant protection, sustainability, protection of functional biodiversity, climate change, global food security
The overall objective of EcoStack is stacking and protection of functional biodiversity to support sustainable crop production. Therefore, prototypes of sustainable agro-ecology systems for every major pedo-climatic zone in Europe will be developed and, among others, analysed with regard to agricultural productivity and yield effects, delivery of ecosystem services in various cropping systems and socio-economic impacts. Innovative technologies (GIS, yield maps), molecular techniques to determine the source populations of ecosystem service providers (ESSP), modelling and monitoring intruments for examining interactions of ESSP with the environment and stakeholder involvement will be the main methods and sources for data generation.
