Institut des Sciences Agronomiques du Rwanda (ISAR)
In late 1994 following the catastrophic events of the genocide, the Government of Rwanda (GOR) reopened the Institut des Sciences Agronomiques du Rwanda (ISAR). The priorities were to establish a new cadre of scientists for the institute and work towards rebuilding the human and physical research capacity. ISAR is a national agricultural research organization that focuses on poverty alleviation, food security and environmental sustainability by drawing on its privileged scientific partnerships and by engaging the rural communities and their partners in fostering innovations for market oriented agricultural development.
