Institute of Food Economics and Consumption Studies
Teaching and research in the field of nutrition economics focuses on supply-side problems of food markets, where economic problems of food industry as well as those in the wake of technological developments are considered. Another focus is on the world food industry and issues more efficient and effective measures to overcome hunger and poverty. Teaching and research in the field of household and consumer oriented health-economic deals with problems of the food and non-food sector. This involves the analysis of consumer behavior in regard to consumer health protection. The economic and social situation of private households plays a key role as a determinant of demand and provision of life. Particular attention is given to food safety attention. This leads to various interrelated problems of consumer, health and social policy.
