The Institute of Crop Science and Resource Conservation, INRES (Institut für Nutzpflanzenwissenschaften und Ressourcenschutz) was founded in October 2005 by the consolidation of the former institutes of Soil Sciences, Agricultural Zoology and Apiology (Zoo-Ecology), Crop Science and Plant Breeding, Plant Nutrition, Plant Diseases and the department of Geobotany and Nature Conservation.
