Effect of quercetin on biomarkers for cardiovascular risk in subjects with various apoE isoforms (intervention study)
Description:
In a clinical study the effect of quercetin on endothelial function and postprandial metabolic parameters in subjects of various apoE isoforms will be determined. Safety parameters will also be assessed. The various apoE isoforms contain different amounts of SH-groups. It is assumed that this affects oxidizability of apoE-containing lipoproteins and susceptibility of a person to oxidative stress. Subjects homocygous for apoE4 are probably particularly susceptible, and could profit most from consumption of antioxidants. Quercetin has antioxidative properties
