Beschreibung

The Soil and Water Research Infrastructure (SoWa RI) is focused on a detail investigation of biotic and abiotic processes and complex interactions between soil and water ecosystems at microscale, mesoscale and catchment level, with particular emphasis on systems under antropogenic pressure. Research teams of the SoWa RI have studied mechanisms and processes responsible for determining key ecosystem processes and services, such as water flow, purification and runoff, nutrient fluxes and cycling in ecosystems, nutrient decomposition and release, composition of populations, etc. The SoWa RI provides a basic research, microscale analyses, long-term large-scale monitoring, expertises, methodologies, applications, innovations, consulting, and education in the area of soil sciences, hydrobiology, biodiversity, population & ecosystem dynamics, ecosystem biology, biogeochemical cycles, water flow & availability, environmental informatics & modelling, and landscape management. Our research activities are going to be the unique source of valuable data applicable in sustainable landscape management and in minimisation of the negative human impact on the environment.
