How are calls for research projects set out?

Publicly financed research is based on the aims set by politics. These aims are fixed in framework programs, framework plans or research strategies and are defined by concrete terms through funding programs. There may be several calls for research projects within a funding program. In FISA, each research project is assigned to a specific research aim.

Political research aims arise on the basis of societal challenges, which differ from region to region depending on the level (federal, state) or temporal horizon. The panel of social issues in the field of agriculture and nutrition can be grouped into seven aims. On the basis of these aims and their sub-aims, it is possible to determine in FISA with which publicly funded research projects the EU, the Federal Government and the Länder meet the current challenges of today.
