COBRA - Coordinating Organic Plant Breeding Activities for Diversity (Project)

...These were produced in the UK in 2001 and are currently (2012/2013) in the F12. In 2005, researchers from several European countries initiated coordinated field trials with the F5 of a wheat CCP from the UK. Since the F8, the CCPs are either staying in one place (‘home’ CCPs) or moving around among eight partners in Europe (i.e. ...Additonally, the composite cross population (F13 and F14) will be maintained without any selection applied....

Application of the near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) for the ethanol cereal breeding and ethanol production (Project)

...The standard error of cross validation ( RMSECV ) of the ethanol yield are 0.66 to 1.28 l ethanol/100 kg cereals. In relation to the low standard deviation (SD ) of the calibraton data sets (0,95 to 1,61 l ethanol/100 kg cereals) , the error in this way are too high, so that the RPDcv values ( RPDcv = SD / RMSECV ) is between 1.35 and 1.63. A RPD value 2.5 is required, so that the calibration can be used for screening. These first results in the context of literature reviews rise to the assumption that the observed standard deviation of the ethanol yield is maximal 2l ethanol/100 kg cereals. Therefore a subsequent step will focused the investigation on earlier breeding material....

Evaluation of the effectiveness of collective redress mechanisms for consumers in national law and legal evaluation of selected approaches to their development (Project)

...The specific collective consumer protection mechanisms are to be investigated empirically in order to create a data base for evaluating the effectiveness of existing instruments. o The following instruments are to be investigated empirically: - Injunctions acc. § 1 UKlaG in general terms and conditions (AGB) - Injunctions acc. § 2 UKlaG in violation of other consumer protection laws, - In accordance with claim. § 8 UWG to eliminate unfair competition acts and omissions, - Skimming claim acc. § 10 UWG - Recovery action pursuant. § 79 paragraph 2 No. 3 Code of Civil Procedure and Article 1 § 3 No. 8 RBerG aF II study of existing collective redress mechanisms for consumer protection, efficiency, and possible approaches to the development a) § 1 UKlaG - Injunctions in Conditions b) injunction acc. § 2 UKlaG c) claim under § 8 UWG d) Income levy claim under § 10 UWG e) recovery action under § 79 paragraph 2 No. 3 ZPO III. ...

GABI-EVAST: EValuation of the power of ASsociation Tests versus QTL mapping (Project)

...These tools, which were developed in GABI-1, will be applied to approach two important traits that are of fundamental importance for plant productivity – (i) starch accumulation and (ii) the balance between carbon and nitrogen-containing components (here termed ‘C/N interactions’). Using Arabidopsis natural accession-derived lines, F2 and RIL-populations, (i) association tests and (ii) QTL mapping will be performed using candidate cardinal genes and molecular markers. Furthermore, the viability and prospects of a novel procedure for association studies (involving gene / genome analysis of F2 phenotypic extremes) will be analysed. This will be done because it is suspected that, due to the structure of populations in autogamous plant species or in strongly selected breeding lines, gene mixing may be less complete than in e.g., human populations, and that considerable variation may be masked by counterbalancing epistatic interactions between genes and will only become visible after outcrossing parental lines....

SFB 564: F2.2 - Risk management of farm households in Northern Vietnam (Project)

...In this context, it can be stated thus, that the research issue of the sub-project F2 in its 2nd phase links up closely with D2-1 “Efficient livestock”, F1.1 “Resource tenure”, and F2.1 “Rural finance” since primary data of these sub-projects from the first phase will be employed to kick-off the field work of F2.2 in the second phase. Furthermore, due to the nature or the research issues of sub-project F2.2 “Rural finance”, it will closely cooperate with A1.2 “Participatory research”, D2.2 “Efficient livestock”, and F3.2 “Local organizations”. Moreover, the research of F2.2 will also make an input into the multi-agent analysis of G1.1 “Farming systems” in Vietnam in the future. ...
