Assignment between regional supply concepts and innovative regional marketing approaches (Collaborative Producer-Trade-Concept/CPTC) (Project)
...The project contains several scientific aspects, i.e. a status quo analysis of regional supply and marketing concepts in the organic retail industry, a benchmarking process where best practice should be analysed, development of systematic marketing concepts within regional supply chains, implementation of marketing strategies in five shops, satisfaction- and image research through a market survey of 800 customers, scientific success controlling, (before-after-inquiry of customers) development and analysis of a structural equation model by using PLS/Amos software. (1) The project starts with a detailed literature analysis for regional supply and marketing and goes on with an empirical study of the status quo of regional marketing by analysing 25 outlets. The results are used to identify the best practice (benchmarking). (2) In the next step, based upon the benchmarking results, producers are included in the conceptual development and the concepts will be tested in five organic shops and/or organic supermarkets. (3) The success is checked with a before-after survey of 800 customers. (4) In the last step the customer inquiry is analysed to find motives, attitudes and buying preferences on the base of a structural equation model....

Quantifying Greenhouse Gas Mitigation Effectiveness through the GRA (Global Research Alliance) Croplands Greenhouse Gas Network (Project)
...Specific objectives of the project include: 1. Quantification of the effectiveness of specific mitigation practices (e.g., fertilizer type/rate, tillage, crop rotation, residue management, cover crop, livestock integration, etc.) for arable crops throughout the world using meta-analyses, 2. ...

RoBUTCHER – A Robust, Flexible and Scalable Cognitive Robotics Platform (Project)
...To achieve this, RoBUTCHER has the following underpinning objectives: (1) Assessment of social, legislative and best practise meat industry requirements; (2) Development of novel technology modules for autonomous cutting trajectory planning, and integration with cooperative human–robot interfaces; (3) Creation of enabling intelligent tools to evaluate the system, chiefly for cutting and handling; (4) Industrial scale pilot of the cognitive MFC. ...The performances should be validated regarding yield, hygiene and meat quality traits (e.g. color, tenderness) comparing the MFC process with the traditional process.Since the MFC will be installed in our slaughter facilities, MRI (Kulmbach) will also conduct demonstration activities of the technology for project partners, end users and meat industry associations....

Increasing Echinoderm Value Chains (Project)
...InEVal addresses societal demand for new solutions to current challenges for human food, aquafeeds and ecosystem services by: 1) Up-valuing sea stars from Irish and German inshore shellfish industries to processed supplements for salmon, shrimp and seabass diets using milling, washing and enzymatic fermentation. 2) Improving low-value sea urchins from heavily impacted sea urchin barrens to high quality food for humans for high value niche markets in novel land-based enhancement systems under optimal holding conditions. ...Production methods will be developed to secure regular supply to surveyed and confirmed target customers, i.e. to diet formulators (aquafeeds) at just-in-time standard; to sea urchin consumers outside normal seasonal bounds; to environmentally aware sea cucumber consumers; and to aquaculture operators aiming to sustainably remediate fallowed production sites. ...

Development of diagnostic tools to early determine wine quality parameter for grapevine breeding (Project)
...Grapevine breeding for wine grapes around the world is largely focusing on resistances to major diseases (e.g. powdery and downy mildew). Combination of resistance loci (stacking of resistances) is the current approach to contribute to durability at the best one can achieve today. ...States of the art are breeding lines with at least 2 or 3 resistance loci for powdery and downy mildew. These resistances need to be combined with good viticultural performance (e.g. growth habit, timing of flowering, veraison, ripening, and good yield) and high wine quality (e.g. no off-flavors, good sugar and acid content, flavor profile, and content of minerals like potassium) making grapevine breeding a real challenging task. ...

Determining physical soil properties and soil water content to evaluate drought stress in wheat cropping systems (Project)
...By assessing grain size distribution and soil organic matter content in high spatial resolution in three soil depth (0-30, 30-60, 60-90 cm) and the respective volumetric water soil water content we can determine plant available water and hence drought stres throughout the growing season. ...
